The Rostock port, located in the northeast of Germany, is one of the major ports in the Baltic Sea Region. It has well established ferry links to southern Scandinavian harbours like Gedser (DK) or Trelleborg (SE). By its gateway function, the port is a valuable partner for other Scandria project partner activities, as for instance the business case study on the development of block trains or the common strategy on the development of intermodal nodes.
Partners' role in the project
The Rostock port will further develop its gateway function in the Scandria corridor. Primarily it
- devises a new Ro/Ro link to the port of Halmstad in Sweden for the retail industry,
- conducts a feasibility study to improve the ferry connection Rostock-Gedser (both activities are carried out within action 4.1 "Development of logistic solutions")
