Norway plans highspeed rail connection from Oslo to Berlin via a tunnel from Southern Sweden to Stralsund

The Norwegian transport expert Knut Halvorsen, CEO of Oslo Teknopol and associated partner of the Scandria project, promotes a highspeed link Oslo - Berlin including a 97 kilometer tunnel below the Baltic Sea. Christian Wiesenhütter, CEO of the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry calls the idea a "realistic vision". Volker Schlotmann, transport minister of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern welcomes the idea: short links to Scandinavia would be of favor North-East Germany.

On Friday, 7 October 2011, the German newspaper "Berliner Zeitung" published an article about the idea. The NDR, the North German Radio Broadcasting, published an article on their web-portal 11 October 2011.
