Presentation of innovative transshipment technologies in the Scandria Corridor
The Joint Spatial Planning Department Berlin - Brandenburg is currently examining the regional capabilities of sustainable logistics concepts for shifting of freight transport from road to rail within SCANDRIA® - Corridor.
The current analysis focuses on the acquisition of the road cargo transport units not suitable for handling by cranes for rail transport at economic conditions. The aim is to herewith deliver a sustainable contribution to reduction of CO2-emissions and to relief road capacity use in the capital region of Berlin-Brandenburg as well as within the SCANDRIA® Development Corridor connecting Scandinavia with Northern Italy and further on.
On the 6th of September 2012 from 10 a.m. (end at 5 p.m.) a presentation of the results of projects in the SCANDRIA® - Corridor funded by the European Commission as well as the findings of a study on innovative transhipment technologies will be held at the Representation of the European Commission in Germany, Unter-den-Linden 78, D - 10117 Berlin.
